The Breitling brand was founded by Leon Breitling who opened a watch workshop in 1884 in Switzerland. The fate of Breitling was determined since it came into being. The Breitling engineer paid much attention to the production and development of watches and their additional functions like chronographs. The company manufactured watches and named them with a variety of names. Till the end of 1920s the products obtained their name which is famous for almost everyone on Earth now.
Breitling Watch Corporation of America was established by Breitling in 1940. Breitling Watch Corporation was a joint venture with Wakmann Watch Company which was an American watch producer that had been in charge of selling Breitling watches in USA till 1970s.
There was a very hard time for Swiss watch industry in 1970. The mechanical watches did not catch attention of people any more during this period. Many small watch brands and famous manufacturers were destroyed by cheap quartz watch technologies. Finally, Breitling Company issued a statement to stop such a phenomenon in 1979. And the brand began its new life in the same year after it was led by Ernest Schneider. Ernest Schneider is a watch maker and a pilot. He managed to recover the popularity of Breitling watches. He successfully related the 100 year experience Breitling accumulated in production of chronographs with modern technologies and knowledge. Breitling also has close relationship with aeronautics all the time. Willy Breitling, the grandson of Leon Breitling, provided British Air Ministry with chronographs for aircrafts in 1930.
Emergency is absolutely one of the most famous Breitling watch models. This model is the first watch with a miniature radio transmitter. Everyone knows that much risk is involved in aviation. Therefore, Breitling engineers introduced a new Emergency watch model in 1995. The model is exclusively designed for pilots. This watch even saved lives of two pilots who got in accident during their flight in 2003. Both pilots were wearing Breitling watches at that time. The pilots were saved as the signals were used to locate them.
The company always pays much attention on the improvement of the quality of Breitling watches. Breitling watch with a gilded case has been never appeared since 1995. Now everything that looks like gold is really made of gold.
